“Every ball or skein of yarn holds something inside it, and the great mystery of what that might be is almost spiritual.”

River Yarn Fibre Festival - 5 & 6 April 2025 – Carcoar, NSW

The picture-perfect village of Carcoar is nestled in a small sheltered valley beside the meandering Belubula River. A true historic gem, it is the third oldest settlement west of the Blue Mountains.

Carcoar is praised as a wonderful piece of living history and a brilliant place to recharge the batteries, step back to yesteryear and immerse in local hospitality.

We are inviting you to join us at the third annual Fibre Festival - a weekend of inspiring workshops and market stalls for knitting and yarn enthusiasts.

Stall Holders

We’ve sought a wonderful selection of artisan hand dyed yarn creators who are inspired by their love of colour and texture.

You’re sure to love them and be unable to resist a purchase or two. Stall holders will be set up in the School of Arts Hall, Carcoar Courthouse, Carcoar Primary School and the garden of the Police Station, Carcoar and eager to see you at 10am on Sat 6 April and Sun 7 April.

Workshops

Over 24 workshops will take place across Saturday 5 April and Sunday 6 April, focusing on all things fibre related, including knitting, crochet, spinning, dyeing, felting and weaving. Taught by a dozen talented, experienced and enthusiastic tutors, there is something for all fibre crafters, at any level of experience.

All workshops take place in Carcoar town centre, two to three minutes walk from Carcoar School of Arts, Iceley Street. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Location

“Turn off the Mid-Western Highway between Blayney and Cowra and find yourself in another era. Discover, nestling in a picturesque river valley, the tiny village of Carcoar practically unchanged since the Nineteenth Century. Here you can savour the tranquility of another age. Treat yourself to good food, old fashioned hospitality, and boutique shops; experience the museums, walking tours and water sports, sample the local wines in the country pub. Enjoy a day or week in idyllic surroundings and forget the insane pace of modern life. Tell your friends about us and come as a group or a couple. Make Carcoar a regular stopping place between Sydney and Canberra. We are halfway to everywhere, and you won’t find a better welcome anywhere.” - Carcoar Village
